“Schulz Farben” (Paints) opens a show room at the German Centre Shanghai in May 2012. Until now “Schulz Farben” took part mainly in major construction projects here in China. Many of our clients and friends are very unsatisfied with the quality and high price level of local paint products and brands in China. They also mistrust the originality of products from local chain stores and paint suppliers. That is why we decided to offer our high quality imported paint products also in smaller amounts to private customers here at the German Centre.

The Language Training company Carl Dusiberg will teach right here at the German Centre GECC Pavillion. Divided into three levels, the 12 weeks long course ensures great linguistic development with limited time requirements. The classes will take place three times a week and you can choose between morning, midday or evening sessions. German Centre tenants starting in March will get the 36 sessions for a discounted price of 999 RMB.

Shanghai ZWK Badminton Club offers badminton happy hours every Thursday from 6:00 to 10:00 pm. Players will be provided with balls, drinking water, world class coaching and mini competitions for free. On March 8th, ZWK Badminton Club will hold a special event for Women's day. All female players will be hosted free of charge and will receive a souvenir.

The project benefited 4,431 Tibetan residents (2,227 male, 2,204 females) who received 9,448 articles of clothing (8,862 shirts, 132 Jackets, 454 pairs of trousers) 488 bags, 349 pairs of socks, 109 toys, 271 shoes, 30 boxes of education supplies, 175 books and this wouldn't be possible without you!
Thank you for supporting the impoverished and disadvantaged communities in rural parts of China, your involvement is treasured.

Increased Cases of Theft during Holiday Period
The Zhang Jiang Police warns that every year during the holiday period there are increased cases of theft. Swindlers and thieves will try to sneak into offices and steal equipment and/or money they can find; all employees are reminded to close and lock their office doors whenever there is nobody in the office – even if it is for a very short time! A thief only needs a couple of minutes to run away with something valuable.
Also, around the Zhang Jiang metro station, there are more pickpockets operating during this time of the year than usual. The police is asking everyone to please exercise even more caution that normally and keep all your valuables close to you at all times.

Dear donors,
On behalf of Crown Relocations I want to express my appreciation for your generosity in support of 1,000 Smiles Project. Your individual and corporate commitments were incredibly helpful and allowed us to collect almost 25 cbm of items that will undoubtedly make a difference in the lives of needy ones in Guinan County, Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province.
The shipment is now on the way to Xining where it will be received by the representatives of Friendship Charity Association (www.friendshipcharity.org), which we work with on this year's drive, and a truck will be provided to directly transport the clothes and education supplies from Xining to the local areas in Guinan County.
Your assistance means a lot for the future of this fantastic drive. I will be happy to provide you with a final report later on.

11.10.2011 1,000 Smiles Project 2011Clothes & Education Supplies Drive for rural communities and schools Guinan County Dear Tenants, The German Centre Shanghai is once again proudly supporting the 1000 Smiles Project from Crown Relocations, which is sponsoring Clothes and Education Supplies Drive for remote areas in Qinghai Province of China.  This year's drive will take place from October 12th to October 28th. Clothes, toys and education supplies will be collected and then transported to Xining, Qinghai Province from where the donations will then be distributed with the help of native graduates, volunteers and Friendship Charity Association (www.friendshipcharity.org) to its recipients. Items to be collected
- children’s clothes (hats, coats, jackets, shirts, trousers and shoes)
- children’s school bags
- kindergarten and primary school equipment (maps, globes, rulers etc.)
- children’s materials about natural science, illustrated stories,dictionaries (CN/EN)
- secondhand computers for schools
- adult’s clothes (sweaters, coats, pants, jackets, scarfs, hats, shoes etc.)
- beddings, sheets, quilts, window curtains

Time: 08:00 - 19:00 hrs
Location: Staff canteen in the basement Please note there will be no lunch provided on October 8th and October 9th. From October 10th to October 12th, lunch box service will be arranged and can be purchased in the atrium of the German Centre office building. Despite protection measures will be taken, a certain level of noise and smell may be inevitable during the renovation. We will try our utmost to minimize any negative impact and discomfort which might arise to you. Thank you very much for your understanding and support!
27.09.2011 “Wir spielen Euch in Grund und Boden”
Brenz Band sucht UnterstützungAm 03. und 04.11.2011 plant die Brenz Band jeweils ein Benefizkonzert in Shanghai. Die Konzerte in Shanghai sind Teil der Chinareise der Band. Die Brenz Band wurde vor 34 Jahren als erste integrative Band Deutschlands von Horst Tögel gegründet. Die Hälfte der 15 aktiven Musiker ist geistig behindert, die andere Hälfte – z.T. im Rentenalten – behaupten, sie seien es nicht. Die Jüngste ist 24, die Ältesten sind 80 Jahre alt. Es sind tägliche Konzerte in Peking, Qingdao und Shanghai geplant. Die Motivation für diese Reise leitet die Brenz Band aus ihrer Ernennung als „Künstler der UNESCO für den Frieden“ her, die sie u.a. für ihr Engagement im Libanon erhalten hat. Mit ihren Auftritten überall, und auch in China, möchten die Musiker zeigen, was Menschen mit Behinderung zu leisten vermögen. Die Reise wird filmisch und journalistisch dokumentiert. Das Projekt wird u.a. vom Goethe-Institut befürwortet und gefördert. Die Brenz Band ist jedoch auf weitere organisatorische und finanzielle Hilfe angewiesen und daher auf der Suche nach deutschen Unternehmen, die sich vor Ort in China engagieren und die Band unterstützen möchten. Gebraucht werden: - Auftrittsorte (Buehne, Schule, Bar, Konzertsaal, ...)
- Unterkünfte für Bandmitglieder und Begleiter (insg. 25 Personen); privat oder Hotelunterkunft ist beides willkommen;

25.08.2011 Notice for Car ParkingDear Tenants, German Centre is in the process to upgrade all the equipments and software used for the current parking system in the coming month. As the current car parking system is partially broken now, German Centre will execute the following measures for the time being: 1. Temporary Parking. - Office and apartment building surface. Hourly parking fees are unchanged, but are charged from Monday-Friday, between 07:30 - 19:30 hrs only. This will be operated by GSN staff, who will manually register the entry time of the car. The payment will be done at the toll station.
- Basement. Hourly parking fees and regulations remain unchanged.
2. Monthly Parking. - The system is in normal operation. Please be reminded to timely pay in the monthly parking fees for both RMB 500 and RMB 800.

12.08.2011 Notice: Test on the building’s fire fighting systemDear Tenants, German Centre will conduct the test on the building’s fire fighting system on Saturday, August 20th 2011: Apartment Building: 09:00 - 11:00 hrs
Office Building: 09:00 - 17:00 hrs Please take note of the following during the system check: - Elevators will be suspended, please use staircase instead.
- Electricity might be cut off temporarily.
- The ventilation in the whole building might be switched on and might cause some noise.
- The fire alarm might be activated, followed by the rolling down of the fire shutters.
There is no need to evacuate the building. Please ensure all sensitive equipment (e.g. computers) is switched off or on alternative power supply (e.g. UPS) at that time to avoid any damage. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience which might cause. For any questions, please contact the reception at 2898 6100 (apartment building) or 2898 6000 (office building).

01.08.2011 WICHTIG: Vorsicht bei Geldüberweisungen nach ChinaSeit geraumer Zeit häufen sich bei den AHK Büros in China Anfragen deutscher Unternehmen bezüglich falscher Kontoinformationen von Lieferanten. Es scheint sich dabei um Hackerangriffe zu handeln, die per Email gestellte Zahlungsanforderungen des Lieferanten abfangen und dann diese abgeändert mit gefälschten Kontoinformationen an den Käufer weiterleiten. So machte beispielweise eine deutsche Firma eine Bestellung bei einem südchinesischen Schmucklieferanten mit Firmensitz in Hongkong und erhielt aber die Kontodaten eines komplett anderen Besitzers, auf dessen Konto der Rechnungsbetrag dann fälschlich überwiesen wurde. Erst später wurde der Fehler bemerkt, als die Hongkonger Firma beim deutschen Käufer wegen der noch ausstehenden Zahlung anfragte. Folgendes sollte daher beachtet / geprüft werden: - Stammt die Zahlungsforderung von der selben Email Adresse, mit der auch vorher bereits Kontakt bestand?
- Selbst wenn dies der Fall ist, sollte besonders Vorsicht geboten sein, falls der Kontakt ohne SSL-Email Verschlüsselung läuft, was häufig bei kostenlosen Email Anbietern wie „Yahoo“, „Hotmail“, „163.com“, „Sohu.com“ u.a. der Fall ist.
- Stimmt der Name des Kontoinhabers und der Ort des Bankkontos mit den ursprünglich übermittelten Kontakt- und Kontodaten des Lieferanten überein? Es sollten niemals Ueberweisungen an Privatkonten erfolgen.
- Ist der Schreibstil der Email auffällig anders?
- Deckt sich die (Proforma)-Rechnung mit den der von der Firma verwandten Schriftart, dem Stil und der Kontaktadresse?
- Im Zweifelsfalle sollte unbedingt der Eingang der Rechnung und Details der Rechnung vom Lieferanten telefonisch noch einmal bestätigt werden.
Wenn Sie bereits eine Zahlung an ein falsches Konto getätigt haben, sollten Sie umgehend Kontakt mit Ihrer Bank aufnehmen. Sofern die Überweisung noch nicht auf der Gegenseite gebucht wurde, lässt sich die Transaktions beispielsweise noch abbrechen. Die Bank in China oder Hongkong kann leider selten in solchen Fällen helfen. Falls es für einen Abbruch der Transaktion schon zu spät sein sollte, kann eventuell nur noch über eine Strafanzeige bei den örtlichen Behörden etwas erreicht werden. » Warnung herunterladen (Deutsch, PDF)

05.01.2011 Price Adjustment of the Staff CanteenDear Tenants, In the past 5 years, we have experienced continuous rise in the costs of food supplies, energy and labor. Nevertheless, German Centre has put the best endeavor to keep the staff canteen meal price unchanged since 2006.
In order to be able to maintain the same level of food quality and service, the meal price will have to be adjusted from RMB 12/coupon to RMB 13/coupon as of February 1, 2011. Thank you for your understanding!
